The material used to fabricate the inner chamber of
your gown case are acid-free and sulfur-free. Cacium
carbonate, an alkaline buffer, has been added to the
paperboard to alleviate the formation of volatile and
migrating acids. Additionally, lignin, a natural
adhesive found in trees, has been removed because of
its acidic properties. Our unique, multi-layered
construction also helps lock out moisture, mildew,
moths, dirt, dust, and other environmental contaminants.
Your gown should NEVER be stored in the attic of cellar
because of extremes in temperature and humidity. It is
very important that you store your packaged gown in a
coll, dry place away from light. An ideal location of
storage would be in a temperature controlled room such
as a bedroom, laying flat, supported by wooden blocks,
to insure proper flow of ventilation.
In the event your gown should ever be subject to a
disaster such as fire or flood, Cherished Heirlooming
will re-clean and repackage your gown FREE of Charge.
Preservationist and conservationist recommend that
fabrics being stored should be periodically removed
from their cases to be re-rolled and re-layered to
prolong the life of the fabric. At Cherished
Heirlooming every 5 years we will re-inspect your gown
for any possible deterioration, re-tissue and re-layer,
and if need be re-clean your gown. We will then
package your gown in a new gown case in needed. Our
reinspection is a free service. You are encouraged to
contact Cherished Heirlooming to arrange for your free
inspection every five years.
